Children’s Kickboxing
4-14 years old
The children are the future. Give them skills that will last them a lifetime. They will learn how to throw the proper punches, kicks, elbows and knees just like the adults in a balanced environment where discipline, technique and fun are stressed. Children’s classes are separated by age: 4-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds and 10-14 year olds. With more than enough children’s kickboxing instructors on hand, this will ensure each child gets the proper instruction at DCS.
Children’s Jiujitsu

Children love to wrestle and grapple – it is in their nature. Why not bring them into our children’s Jiujitsu classes and learn how to do this properly through the art of Jiujitsu. Children will learn proper break falls, rolls, takedowns, positioning and submissions. Like all children’s classes at DCS, discipline, technique and fun are stressed! Technique/drills
Technique/Drills vary from practicing techniques in the air or on a partner, padwork, to even sparring.

Benefits For your child training at DCS
Discipline/Improved Concentration
Martial arts demand focus, respect, honour and self-restraint – all things that qualify as excellent life skills. By doing one of our martial arts classes your child will learn the discipline needed in life to achieve whatever they wish.
Being Active/Getting Fit
Physical fitness is essential for proper growth and development. In addition to eating a healthy diet, it’s important for kids to learn the value of being active.
One of the best benefits of Martial Arts for kids is that it includes a physical activity component. Not only will your child move around a lot, but they’ll also build on their strength and flexibility.
Co-ordination/Body Awareness
Doing martial arts movements can help kids get a better feel for their body in space. This is good for kids who struggle with motor skills. It also helps kids understand the power of the mind over the body.
The proper development of your child’s motor skills depends on coordination and balance. One of the major benefits of martial arts is learning how to use your body and react quickly. Through punching, kicking, takedowns, positions and submissions your child will develop the co-ordination needed to excel in any physical activity.
Goal Setting/Working towards a Goal
Some kids who learn and think differently feel like they never “win” at anything. In martial arts, kids work at their own pace. They earn a different rank every time they reach a new skill level. This can boost self-esteem and keep them motivated.
Children are rewarded for their practice and mastery of skills through new ranks. Focusing on a goal such as achieving a new rank or belt is a great way to learn about goal-setting and motivation.
Confidence/Self-Esteem
The study of martial arts focuses highly on self-improvement. Unlike team sports, the only person to compete against is yourself. This speaks to the many mental benefits of martial arts.
While some kids struggle with the highly competitive nature of team sports and the idea of letting others down, martial arts can boost their confidence through slow and steady growth as an individual.
Self-Defence
Peaceful conflict resolution is a pillar of martial arts. However, there are instances when self-defence may become necessary.
While we hope our children will never be in a situation that requires self-defence, it is a lifesaving skill. In a frightening scenario, basic self-defence can give your child the ability to protect themselves.
Respect
The study of martial arts has long been tied to the concept of respect. It is one of the core values you’ll see in any class, regardless of the type of martial arts. From day one, children are encouraged to respect the instructor, as well as their parents and teachers.
